William McMaster Murdoch served as a ships officer for the White star Line from 30th June 1899 until 15th April 1912 when he died in his line of duty, serving as 1st Officer of Titanic, in the Titanic disaster. He was born in Dalbeattie, Scotland on 28th February 1873.
